Candle Care

A little care makes a candle burn cleaner, smell stronger and last longer.

The first burn matters

Let the wax melt all the way to the edge of the jar on the first burn. This usually takes 2–3 hours and stops the candle tunnelling down the middle.

Every time you light it

  • Trim the wick to about 5mm before each burn to keep the flame steady and stop soot.
  • Burn for no more than 4 hours at a time, then let it cool before relighting.
  • Keep it away from draughts, open windows and fans.
  • Stop using the candle when about 1cm of wax is left in the bottom.

Candle safety

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Always burn candles within sight, out of reach of children and pets.
  • Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire.
  • Keep burning candles at least 10cm apart.
  • Place on a heat-resistant surface. The jar gets hot, so don’t move it while lit.
